About Loud Shirt Day
Loud Shirt Day is the perfect excuse to wear your brightest clothes and get LOUD and PROUD to raise money to help give the gift of sound and speech to deaf children.
Organise an event with work colleagues, school or with friends. Create a theme – wear your best and brightest frock, the most outrageous outfit – and get people to contribute on the day for the honour of participating (and having a really good time).
This year, the official date for Loud Shirt Day is Friday 21st October 2022 – but you can host your event whenever suits you best!
About The Shepherd Centre
By supporting Loud Shirt Day you are helping more than 600 families across New South Wales, The ACT and Tasmania who turn to The Shepherd Centre each year.
You are supporting world leading programs, services and intervention that lead to outstanding outcomes, with the majority of our graduates achieving the same spoken language as their hearing peers.
A registered charity, The Shepherd Centre was founded in 1970 by the late Dr Bruce Shepherd AM and his wife Annette. Their aim was to provide a family-centred early intervention program to teach children born deaf or hearing impaired how to develop spoken language.
For over 50 years, The Shepherd Centre has assisted more than 2,500 children who are deaf or hearing impaired to reach their full potential. The organisation is recognised as a world leader in early intervention Listening and Spoken Language therapy, providing families with assistance to develop their child’s spoken language, so they can participate fully in the hearing world.
The Shepherd Centre currently support over 700 families all over Australia with telehealth for rural and regional areas and 7 in-person centres in NSW and ACT. Our global platform HearHub supports health professionals working with children with hearing loss all over the world.
Currently, only 30% of our services and programs are government-funded. It is through the generosity of our community that we can continue our vital work for children with hearing loss and their families.
For over 20 years we’ve been hosting Loud Shirt Day events to help raise much needed funds and awareness for kids with hearing loss.
